Kelvin Luster, Sr. was born on October 27, 1952 to Benny and Laura Hunt in Birmingham, Alabama. He was reared by James and Annie Luster of Brighton. Kelvin was educated in the Brighton School System. He would go on to become a cement finisher and curator for Alabama School of Fine Arts for over twenty-five years. His loving survivors are: wife, Johnnie Mae Luster; sons, Kelvin, Jr., Wesley, and Aaron (Morgan); daughter, Queenie Kabiru’ Mbogo; grandchildren, Christian, Lauren and Landen; three brothers, Charles Hunt, Victor (Tammie) Kirksey, and Stevie Kirksey; three sisters, Ann (Gregory) Vance, Monetta Cornish, and Rhonda (Bruce) Daniels; other relatives and friends.
