Native of Sumter County (York, Alabama) 1966 graduate of Sumter County Training School in Livingston, Alabama and continuing his education at Alabama A & M University and Texas Southern University. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the Army he worked in various positions in Detroit, and in 1971 - 1973 he secured a position playing saxophone with the Funkadelics, Marcus Dell Gray, Herbie Hancock and The Dramatics just to name a few . While with the Dramatics he produced and composed the song entitled 'What You See is What You Get' and the album was a hit! Service of memory will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at his beloved Grants Chapel CME Church Cuba, Alabama, Pastor Izea Blanks officiating and Reverend Walter Ball Eulogist with interment in Cagus Cemetery. His loving survivors are: devoted daughter; Ebony, brothers; Lucius and Don (Peggy), one niece; Dawn Kayla and nephew; Chad, and a host of relatives and friends. His remains will lie in repose on Friday Evening from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at Weatherly Funeral Home York, Alabama. Westside Funeral Home Fairfield Directing.
