Rufus was a native of Livingston, Alabama graduating from Sumter County Training School in 1951. He enlisted in the Army after graduation and relocated to Chicago, Illinois upon discharge from the Army. In November 1958 he married the love of his life; the former Bennie Lee Delaine and Chicago became their home as they shared the joys of marriage for Fifty Five Years until Bennie's death in the spring of 2012. Rufus was a machine operator and dedicated employee of The Campbell Soup Company for more than thirty years. Service of memory will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Grants Chapel C.M.E. Church (5290 Kinterbish 10 Cuba, Alabama 36907) Reverend Izea Blanks, Jr. Pastor and Reverend Bruce W. Henderson, Sr. Officiating with interment in Cagus Cemetery. He leaves to cherish his memory: devoted daughters; Doretta (Alonzo) Green and Cheryl Lynn (Reginald) Lee, grandchildren; Kayla, Lawrence, Keenan and Stephen, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. His remains will lie in repose on Friday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at Weatherly Funeral Home York, Alabama. Westside Funeral Home Fairfield Directing.
