Mr. Roderick (Rod) DeWayne Key was born on March 25, 1962, to the late Peter Frank and Annie Nell Key in Mobile, Alabama. He was a proud graduate of John Shaw High School and went on to pursue his passion for the culinary arts, taking specialized classes in cooking and baking. This passion blossomed into a successful culinary career, where he became a respected business owner known for his exceptional cooking skills and impressive ice sculpting talents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Westside Funeral Home Chapel, Fairfield, Alabama.
Graveside Service will follow on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, 885 Old Pascagoula Road, Theodore, Alabama 36582.
He leaves to cherish his memory three sons: Roderick Eugene Whittier, Brodrick Jay Key, and Korteis Caldwell; one sister, Cheryl Key-Lockhart; two brothers, Derrick Bernard (Deloris) Key and Frank DeMarcus (Kenya) Key; five grandchildren; two aunts; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Key will lie in repose on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Westside Funeral Home, Fairfield.
