Mattie Pearl Collins James was born on March 12,1946 in West Blocton, Alabama to the late Reverend Ed and Rhoda Collins. Pearl was educated in the Bibb County School System. She was employed at Santana Garment Factory, Plantation Manor Nursing Home, and West Blocton High School. Pearl was versatile and had many roles during her lifetime. At times she was an honorary college student, law enforcement, rescuer, therapist, nurse and educator to name a few. Her loving survivors are: husband, Harold James, Sr; children, Harold James, Jr, Bridgett (Orlando) Childress, Eric James, and Cheri Grace; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
