Martha Mae Alexander Adams was the fifth child of twelve children born to the parentage of Mr. and Mrs. Ulysses and Ada Elliott Alexander on September 8, 1925 in Pelham, Alabama. Her confession came quite early in life and she united with the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church Alabaster, Alabama (200 Simsville Road 35007) and she served faithfully there until her husband (the late Reverend James Adams, Sr.) accepted his calling into the ministry. For over 38 years she served along side her husband as he pastored the following churches: Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church Pelham, Carlton Hill Missionary Baptist Church Brierfield, Mountain Missionary Baptist Church Calera, New Convert Missionary Baptist Church Maplesville, First Baptist Church Wilsonville, and Rocky Zion Missionary Baptist Church Pell City, with all of them located in Alabama. After her husband's death on September 27, 1986, she returned to her beloved Mount Olive where she served as President of the Missionary Society Ministry for many years. Funeral Service will be Wednesday (May 12th) at noon Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church Alabaster with Pastor Richard W. Davis officiating with interment in Keystone Cemetery Alabaster. Her loving survivors are: devoted children; Irene Thompson, Bobbie (Reverend Sammie) Nelms, Reverend James (Renay) Adams, Jr., Minister Dora (John) Montgomery, Thelma Watson, Reverend John (Vanessa) Adams, Vicki (Harvey) Wilson, Darlene (Reverend James) Garner, Jeffery (Tracey) Adams, and Wendy Adams, her sisters; Frances Tolbert and Ruth (Fred) Hayes, Sr., thirty-one grandchildren, forty-nine great grandchildren, seventeen great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Her remains will lie in repose on Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church Alabaster. Westside Funeral Home Fairfield Directing.
