Lola Mae Lockett Carter was the third child born to Owen and Sally Morgan Lockett on October 10, 1933 in Birmingham, Alabama. Lola was educated in the Birmingham Public School System graduating from A. H. Parker High School. After graduating from high school she lived for several years in Cleveland, Ohio and later moved to New York City where she became an expert in Dry Cleaning. Lola's last relocation was back to her beloved Birmingham where she opened a dry cleaning business and opened a business caring for plants located in various businesses around town. In 2013 Lola became a licensed minister and became part of several prayer ministries. Funeral Service will be Thursday (9th) 12:00 PM at Westside Funeral Chapel Fairfield with Pastor Harry S. Jones officiating and interment in Elmwood Cemetery. Her loving survivors are: devoted brother; Alvin (Corinne) Lockett, nieces; Sherry (Vernon) Clay, Elaine Hall, Tonya Lockett, and Delphia Lockett Penson, nephews; Sidney Cole, William Wilkins, Jr., Walter (Wanda) Lockett, Jr., and Toussaint Lockett, Aunts; Mattie Evans and Odelle Edwards, other relatives and friends. Her remains will lie in repose on Wednesday (8th) from 1:00 until 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Westside Funeral Home Fairfield Directing.
