Deacon James Shorts

James Shorts was born on July 27, 1928 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Richard and Roberta Shorts. He was educated in the Birmingham City School System and graduated from Parker High School. He was a faithful member of South Elyton Baptist Church for over eight decades. Mr. Shorts served in multiple areas of the church. He was employed for 19 years by Try-Me Bottling Company and invested 26 years at Shaw Warehouse Company before his retirement. His loving survivors are: devoted wife, Dorothy Shorts; children, Veronica (Arthur) Jones, Cheryl (Kerry) Lee, Robert (Carroll), Jonathan (Ceila), and Darryl (Michelle); twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
