Christine McAboy DeLaine was born on February 2, 1951 in Cuba, Alabama to the parentage of Tom and Ethel Lee Gibbs McAboy. She was educated in the Sumter County Public School System, graduating from York West End High School Class of 1970. She furthered her education at Alabama State University Montgomery, Alabama obtaining her Bachelor's of Science and Master of Education Degree. During her matriculation, she became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, currently a member of Theta Omega Zeta Chapter, Inc. of Livingston, Alabama. After graduating from Alabama State University, Christine returned home and began her stellar career in education with the Sumter County Board of Education from 1975 until her retirement in 2008. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cuba, Alabama where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, member of the Matrons Ministry, the Kitchen Committee, and Executive Director of ZHBC Community Development, Inc. Funeral Service will be Saturday (May 29th) at noon at her beloved Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church (5901 Kinterbish #10 36907) Pastor C. Wayne Davis officiating with interment in Cagus Cemetery. Her loving survivors are: devoted husband of 44 years; Aubry Dean DeLaine, sons; Christopher Tyree DeLaine and Aubry Sontorro DeLaine, brothers and sister; Eddie Louis (Shirley) McAboy, James Ray McAboy, Johnny (Rosie) Austin and Dorothy (Herbert) Hawkins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her remains will lie in repose on Friday (May 28th) from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at Weatherly Funeral Home York, Alabama. Her service will be streamed live @ Zion Hill MBC Cuba and face masks are required for those attending the funeral service. Westside Funeral Home Fairfield Directing.
