Bonnie was a lifelong resident of Shelby County Alabama, and faithful member of New Mount Moriah Baptist Church Calera where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Trustee. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict, and upon returning home became an employee of ABC Rail Corporation Calera until his retirement. Graveside Services will be Saturday at 10:00AM at Shelby Memory Gardens Calera with Pastor Mike Jones officiating, His loving survivors are: wife; Carrie Welch Powell, devoted children; Rickey (Sharon) Powell, Alfred (Patricia) Powell, Donnie (Bettye) Powell, Timothy (Jean) Powell, Steve (LaSonia) Seay, Alice (Eddie) Johnson, Azalene (Ernest) Montgomery, Annette (Wayne) Patton, and Aretha (Demond) Lowery, twenty six grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
