Betty Jean Phillips Marcus was born on October 30, 1953, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late George and Mary Phillips. She was educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public School System and proudly graduated from Myers Park High School in 1972.
Betty’s professional journey spanned over four decades at BellSouth/AT&T, where her work was marked by dedication, integrity, and excellence. Her life reflected a deep compassion for others and an unwavering commitment to service—both to her family and her community.
A Celebration of Life service honoring Betty will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church (306 5th Avenue SE), with Pastor Akeem Simmons, officiating.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory her devoted son, Sharlton (Danielle) Crawford; beloved grandchildren, Rush, Ross, Royce, and Rhyan Crawford; brothers, George and James Phillips; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and cherished friends.
She will lie in repose on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Westside Funeral Home, Calera, Alabama.
