Barry Thomas "Mr. B" McGhee

Barry Thomas “Mr. B” McGhee was a lifelong resident of Birmingham, Alabama; born August 29, 1959 in Birmingham to the late Charles Wesley McGhee, and Mary Wilson McGhee. He Confessed his life to Christ at an early age at Tabernacle Baptist Church. 

Barry was educated in Birmingham and Jefferson County Public Schools. He was an Alumni of Jackson Olin High School, Class of 1977. He attended Alabama A&M University and received a Bachelor in Urban Studies in 1981.

Barry was married to the late Kimberly Haywood McGhee, to this union was born two sons, Wesley Thomas McGhee and Justin Earl McGhee.   

He retired in 2015 after 35 years of service from the Birmingham Board of Education Child Nutrition Program as a manager. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Wesley MeGhee and wife, Kimberley Haywood McGhee. 

His loving survivors are: sons, Demetrius Williams and Justin Earl McGhee both of Birmingham, AL and Wesley Thomas McGhee (Brionna) of Fort Sill, OK; grandchildren, Demetrius Trevon Williams, Londyn McGhee and Lillian Vepeda; mother, Mary E. McGhee of Birmingham, AL; brother, Charles Wesley McGhee, Jr. (Karla) of Millbrook, AL; sisters, Gloria McGee Brown (Archie) of Monroeville, PA, Brenda Lovejoy (Charles) of Madison, AL, Annette Spann (Jerry) and Florence Cheryll Fitzgerard both of Birmingham, AL; loving special friend, Elease Cates of Birmingham, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Service of memory will be 12:00 noon, Wednesday, October 11th at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Christopher M. Hamlin officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. McGhee remains will lie in repose on Tuesday, October 10th from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  He will lie in state at the church from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service. Westside Funeral Home Fairfield Directing.
