He was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired Birmingham Police Officer, and a member of the Greater Shiloh Baptist Church (2135 Jefferson Avenue SW 35211). Service of memory will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at the church, Pastor Dr. Michael Wesley, Sr. will officiate with interment in Elmwood Cemetery. His loving survivors are: devoted wife; Cathy Holmes Underwood, sons; Brandon and Donald Underwood, siblings; Jack (cookie), and Henry (eva) Underwood, III, Janice Lucas and Annie Rose Caulton, grandson; Braxton, and many other relatives and friends. The remains will lie in repose on Friday from 1:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Westside Funeral Home Fairfield Directing.
